Save Money Disney

There are several Disney World tips to help make a family's trip more enjoyable. Tickets to Disney World are very expensive for the average family and it can be difficult to save money on them. However, there are ways to cut costs on the other parts of the trip. Besides the hotel, there are the little savings that can add up, by purchasing items in advance instead of buying them at Disney World. Time can also be saved by following through on some of these tips.

Disney World Tips to Saving Time

Always get a Fastpass. A Fastpass allows people to return to a specific ride at a set time with the ability to skip most of the line and crowd. This comes in handy especially for families with children. Only one Fastpass per person can be received during a block of time. For example, at 12:30 p.m. a family receives a Fastpass for Pirates of the Carribean. However, the Fastpass might not be valid until 2 to 3 p.m. The downside is that the family can not get another Fastpass until 2 p.m. Fastpasses are free and can be collected at a Fastpass kiosk by the ride. Not all rides feature Fastpasses.

Some rides offer a baby swap. Baby swap is when one parent stays with the baby or small child while the other parent rides. After the ride is over, the other parent that waited with the child does not have to stand in line and can enter the ride. This will come in handy for families who have children that are not old or tall enough for certain rides. There does seem to be some ignorance among a few employees I encountered about the baby swap. One employee (also known as cast member at Disney World) at Epcot was not aware of the baby swap. A couple of cast members told us they could not do a baby swap unless it was a ride that was officially designated "not good for children". There seems to be an inconsistent view about baby swaps among the cast members.

Another Disney World tip to save time: travel to Disney World when school is in session or during winter months. Of course with children in school it might not be possible to go during the school session. However, many people claim visiting Disney World during the winter months is less crowded. Holiday decorations are displayed during the holiday season, so this might be a great time to visit.

Disney World Tips to Saving Money

Disney World tips to saving money are more complicated because saving money can depend on experience, time, and the needs of the family. The hardest items to save money on at Disney World are the tickets. However, the best way to save money on the tickets is to plan to pay for multiple days at Disney World. The ticket prices decrease the more days are purchased. To save money it might be best to avoid purchasing the park hopper pass. In my opinion, a park hopper pass might not be very useful for a family with small children. The crowds, time, and effort it takes to take transport children to another park could cause more of a headache. If purchasing a ticket for one park per day, find out the time the specific park closes. For example, Animal Kingdom closes much earlier than the other parks.

Price staying at a Disney Resort with and without a dining plan and compare it to staying at a hotel not on the Disney World property. It is very possible to find a lesser expensive hotel near Disney World in Orlando. The benefits to staying at a Disney World resort might outweigh staying at a non-Disney World resort in regards to gas, parking fees, and saving time. However, it is up to the family to decide whether those benefits are worth the possible extra money for the cost of the hotel. The dining plans can possibly help save a family money also, which can only be purchased if staying at a Disney World resort.
